The published proceedings of a workshop funded jointly by ACIAR and AusAID and held at Maputo, Mozambique, 6-9 March 2000.
The workshop sought to determine:
- Which countries in the SADC region recognised Newcastle disease as a serious problem in village chickens.
- Which countries have the will to control Newcastle disease in village chickens?
- Which countries have the facilities and potential infrastructure to produce and distribute thermostable vaccine?

In addition to the 30 formal contributions, which are listed separately on this website the proceedings contain an introduction by the editors, an opening address by the Vice-Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development and a list of participants.
