Notes

The author describes Newcastle disease as a constant threat to the poultry industry in Egypt. Control depends on quarantine and vaccine programs combined with serological monitoring. Poorly managed flocks were reported to respond to even mild strains of Newcastle disease vaccine with severe disease. Both live attenuated and inactivated Newcastle disease vaccines are used in Egypt.
