Notes

The English version of this book was written by Dr David Farrell, University of Queensland. Funding for the production of the book came from AusAID and the Internatinal Union of Nutritional Sciences. The book contains translations of each item of the text into Afrikaans, Sotho, Xhosa, Zulu and Tshivenda.
The book aims to provide simple and cheap inputs to improve the productivity of snall flocks of scavenging chcikens. There are sections on housing, breeding and hatching, rearing and management (of both chicks and hens), feeding and health. The text is supplemented with simple illustrations. The book should have an appeal outside its stated target area of South Africa.
The book is available from the project coordinator and distributor who should also be apporached for permission to photocopy portions of the book
