The KYEEMA Foundation is currently funding study for Matilde E. J. Nacuvaneque, a Mozambican woman from Nampula Province in the North, who achieved very good results at school, but had no way possible to ever be able to attend University without assistance. Matilde is now learning skills that will help to promote Mozambique as a tourist destination, and hopefully in the future this will create more job opportunities for Mozambicans.
In appreciation of the support being provided to her, Matilde wrote the following:
“ Firstly I hope you are well and happy each day. Permit me, with respect, to thank you for the great assistance you have provided for my professional training in the area of tourism, in the acquisition of knowledge, contributing thus in an intellectual manner to the development of my country. I am well, am very happy with the course that I am undertaking, which is proving to be of a crosscutting and interpersonal nature. But on the other hand I am feeling the pressure, since next year is the year we must choose a specialisation, and also because it is proving difficult to obtain reference material due to its scarcity. Right now I am in the second semester of year 2, and promise to do my best to pass the next phase. The course offers 2 specialisations - tourism planning, or tourism information and promotion. I''m unsure which is the best alternative especially since this is a new area for Mozambique, but friends and colleagues have suggested that I have more vocation in information and promotion since I have created a cultural group here in the faculty and when there are events taking place I am invited to decorate the site and provide entertainment. That''s about all until the next time. I would like to ask you all to visit me whenever possible, and I send a hug the size of the world to you all, your families and friends.”
